John stood in the doorway of Elizabeth's office,
watching her devour - for the really was no other word for it - a bar of something as though her life depended on it. "What
are you eating?"
"Spaghetti bolognaise."
"In a bar?"
She nodded but didn't look up, far to engrossed
in her meal. "From the ration packs."
"Right..." He was so not prepared to argue with her. "Hey, have you seen my golf
buggie around?"
"The one you had shipped from Earth?"
"Yes."
"The one that I did not, under any circumstances,
approve of?"
"Yeah..."
"The one that you shipped from Earth
despite my complete disapproval?"
"That's
the one." This was not going to end well for him, John could see that coming a mile away.
"It's in the ocean."
"I..."
He blinked. "...what?"
"I threw it in the ocean."
"You
threw it in the
ocean?"
She took
another bite of her spaghetti bolognaise bar. "Yep."
"Why did you do that?"
"I had a bad morning." She shrugged.
"You want to argue?"
He loved her - he really did - but she was damn mean when she wanted to be. "No."
"Good."
"Besides,"
She continued, finishing off the bar and licking her lips. “It’s your kryptonite.”
“My what
tonight?”
“Your kryptonite, bimbo… are you that much of a girly girl that you haven’t
seen
Superman?”
"Are you calling me a girl?" John glared at her. "And are you calling me a
Bimbo?"
"So
what if I am?"
He crossed his arms and glared harder. She didn't appear to notice. "You know, you were a lot nicer
before you were pregnant."
Elizabeth touched a hand to the swell of her abdomen, an almost unconscious act that John
would have smiled at if he didn't think she'd try to break his arm for it. "And you were a lot less of a monkey before you
made me this way... I'd say we're even."
